She works collaboratively with you, keeping your needs and goals at the heart of the therapeutic process, and tailors her approach so the work feels meaningful and relevant to your life. Amaia’s work is guided by attachment and relational principles and informed by an understanding of trauma, its impact, and recovery.

Trained in clinical psychology and relationship therapy across the UK, Australia, and Spain, Amaia has worked in hospital, forensic, community, emergency, and private practice settings, supporting individuals, relationships, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds across the lifespan. Given the nature of her work settings, she has observed firsthand how early attachment experiences shape relational patterns, emotion regulation, and overall wellbeing, as well as the reparative potential of secure attachment and connection in therapeutic and interpersonal relationships. Amaia has contributed to published research on trauma and chronic pain, reflecting her interest in the connections between mental and physical health.

Amaia’s approach is integrative, drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Circle of Security-informed practice, underpinned by systemic and psychodynamic perspectives. Amaia provides sessions in both English and Spanish.
